Job Summary

The Retail Operations Manager at PetSmart is responsible for driving operational excellence across our stores while aligning with our company's vision and values. This role oversees merchandising, inventory management, pet care operations, and associates' development, ensuring a safe and organized environment.

Essential Responsibilities

People Leadership:

• Engage in recruitment, interviewing, and training processes.
• Facilitate the associate experience, ensuring comprehensive training and development.
• Oversee daily task prioritization and delegation to meet business needs.
• Lead and coach associates to ensure the highest standard of pet care.
• Manage staffing coverage for key operational areas.
• Effectively communicate company goals to associates.
• Recognize and celebrate high-performing associates.

Overall Store Experience:

• Ensure the health and proper care of store-owned pets.
• Oversee inventory management processes for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements.
• Maintain effective vendor relationships and store standards.
• Manage Buy Online Pickup In Store and Ship From Store processes.
• Analyze sales trends to make informed merchandising decisions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain a safe work environment.

Expense Management:

• Drive revenue growth and manage store P&L expectations.
• Evaluate inventory reports to identify trends and opportunities.
• Manage store-related expenses efficiently.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in retail leadership.
• Full-time availability with flexible scheduling.
• Strong proficiency in computer applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Oversee a team of up to 43 associates, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Responsible for associate development and performance management.

Essential Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and climb ladders, as well as lift/move up to 50 pounds, occasionally more.
• Work environment may include exposure to live animals and moderate noise levels.
